Scouts are a go-getting group of young people aged 10½ to 14. Being a Scout is all about discovering the world on your own terms and mastering the skills that'll help you weather the storms of life.

Week in and week out, Scouts gather in their troop to take on the small task of changing the world. Here are just a few of the things Scouts get up to.
Discovering the world
Being a Scout means exploring the world your way and making the most of what you have. With new friends, Scouts learn life skills, try new things and work with trained volunteers to achieve their goals.
Starting small, thinking big
Scouts start small but think big. They stand up for what they believe in and make a difference locally, knowing their actions matter.
Listening in, lending a hand
Scouts explore big and small questions, saying yes more often than no. Whether it's their first camp, coding, or toasting marshmallows, they embrace new experiences. Sound fun? It is.
Scouts:

- Go on adventures, at home and abroad
- Explore the world around them
- Help others and make a difference, on their own doorsteps and beyond
Camps and sleepovers
Camps proper: cooking on fires, putting up their own tents and bigger adventures away. Camps are the part of Scouting children talk about all year.
Scouts' uniform
Scouts wear uniform at weekly meetings and sometimes on trips away, depending on where they're going and what they're doing. It's a teal green shirt or blouse with badges sewn on, worn with a scarf known as a necker.
Scouts' badges
Scouts can earn a range of exciting badges as they grow. Here are just a few. See the full list of Scouts activity badges on the Scouts website, or track your child's badges in the Parent Portal.

Chief Scout's Gold Award
This is the highest award a Scout can earn. To complete it, they need to complete all nine Challenge Awards, plus six Activity Badges. Find out more on the Chief Scout's Gold Award page.
